About Kids Inspire

Kids Inspire (KI) provides a range of therapeutic and community services across Essex (the charity is also growing into Thurrock and Suffolk) for service users who are impacted by mental health challenges and trauma.  We have a range of highly qualified therapists offering strong management support and peer support throughout our team. Launched in 2007, by the CEO and Clinical Director, Sue Bell OBE DL, Kids Inspire has a track record of success, a highly engaged board of trustees, and a determination and drive to make a sustainable difference in the lives of children, young people and families.

We are looking for an experienced Community Engagement professional to support with leadership of the Community Engagement team at Kids Inspire, support service delivery, develop community-based projects, building awareness, relationships and community confidence in empowering young people to create their own resilient communities.

Job Title: Community Engagement Deputy Manager

Location of the Job: Hybrid face-to-face and online working. Head Office of Kids Inspire in Chelmsford and across Essex and Suffolk - depending on current organisational priorities

Contractual Terms: Employed

Hours: 37.5 hours per week with flexibility to work evenings and weekends when required (part time hours also considered)

Salary: Band 5 (£32,184 - £34,659 FTE)

Main activities

The role includes but is not limited to:

  • to implement the community engagement strategy

  • to manage, support and supervise members of the community engagement team, ensuring they are always clear about their tasks and feel supported in achieving them

  • to build networks of organisations and groups that support and are keen to collaborate on our development activities in different communities

  • alongside the Community Engagement Manager, to review the strategy annually, to ensure the community engagement strategy dovetails into the work of KI, reflecting current organisational priorities

  • to work with the team to review and develop the Community Engagement offer, including school engagement and The Voice youth group

Requirements and conditions include:

  • recognised Qualification in Youth Work or Social Work

  • minimum of 5 years’ experience in youth work or social work

  • proven track record of building and maintaining a range of external networks and relationships in the local community

  • willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required

  • excellent interpersonal skills

  • evidence of confidence in public speaking

  • excellent numeracy and literacy skills and computer literate

  • tactful, sensitive, tolerant, flexible and positive manner

  • demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environment and share knowledge

  • to be a car owner to enable travel between locations and to hold a clean licence and be covered by business insurance.

You will be subject to an enhanced check of criminal records via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
