Kids Inspire (KI) provides a range of therapeutic and community services across Essex (the charity is also growing into Thurrock and Suffolk) for service users who are impacted by mental health challenges and trauma. We have a range of highly qualified therapists offering strong management support and peer support throughout our team. The opportunity
You will be an accredited occupational and sensory integration attachment therapist with a minimum of three years’ post qualification experience with a BA Hons (essential) or MSC in Occupational Therapy (with an identified specialism, ideally in neurodiversity and/or trauma, children not living with their biological parents). Advanced SI, Level 4 and extensive experience in children’s services. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team (that includes two part time Occupational Therapists) and will hold a varied caseload that will include children not living with their biological parents.

Job Title: Occupational and Sensory Integrations Attachment Therapist
Location of the Job: Hybrid with face-to-face and online working. Face-to-face locations include Kids Inspire’s Chelmsford Head Office, schools in Essex, Southend, Suffolk, Thurrock, Hertfordshire and Norfolk.
Contractual Terms: Self employed
Hours: Ad hoc sessional hours
Salary: £50-£90 per hour dependant on qualifications/experience
Main activities
The role includes but is not limited to:
work individually with children, adults and or family groups using a variety of methodologies, including online, within your scope of practice
work in a variety of settings that might include Kids Inspire Headquarters, schools, Children’s Centres or other external premises approved for the work of the organisation. Delivery may also be online from home
provide Occupational Therapy assessments and Sensory Integration Intervention to clients/contracts
develop and devise programmes for clients which are affecting the children’s participation and occupational performance in home and school settings
create goals for referred children and develop outcome reports and intervention pathways for children/contracts
keep up-to-date clinical records, complete all required outcomes testing programmes including baseline measures, and upload to a database or submit these to Kids Inspire administration in the required timescales as required according to protocol
actively assess any safeguarding risks and report these immediately to Kids Inspire Safeguarding Officers, to complete all required Cause for Concern forms and submit these in a timely manner
keep up-to-date CPD records and to attend any training days provided by the organisation, unless otherwise agreed with the line manager
report for case management within the required timescales and be fully prepared to discuss the current work
report immediately any likely sickness absence promptly
any other request commensurate to the post and grade
Requirements and conditions include:
hold an accredited professional qualification
comply with the College of Occupational Therapists Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct
develop and maintain the skills and knowledge required of an Occupational Therapist.
develop the ability to reflect on a client’s occupational performance with other colleagues to identify appropriate strategies to facilitate and enhance occupational performance in all settings.
always maintain sensitivity to the emotional needs of clients/carers when imparting complex /distressing information regarding the nature of the client’s difficulties and the impact on individuals and their families.
always maintain a high level of concentration in all aspects of client care. Focus on the occupational performance of the child and how elements of development may impact a child’s capacity and readiness to perform and participate in typical school settings.
work with parents/carers, education, and other multi-disciplinary colleagues and agree on decision making relevant to intervention and strategies being implemented.
attend supervision with your clinical supervisor (ratio in accordance with your accrediting body).
provide a signed annual report from your Clinical Supervisor in the format provided.
work within nationally agreed clinical and ethical guidelines of UKCP, BACP, IFT, BAAT, AP or HCPC or agreed equivalent and to follow their Code of Practice and Ethics as well as that of Kids Inspire.
provide written end of therapy reports on each client as per Kids Inspire Pro Forma.
provide written case studies as required and as per Kids Inspire Pro Forma.
conduct evaluations of the therapy as required by Kids Inspire with clients/parents /carers.
act as an ambassador for Kids Inspire.
hold professional indemnity insurance to cover the value of £5m.
be a car owner (or have other means of transport) to enable travel between locations and to hold a clean licence and be covered by business insurance, subject to the provisions of the Equality Act 2010
You will be subject to an enhanced check of criminal records via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
