The Opportunity

We are recruiting for Child and Adult Psychotherapists and Counsellors to join a team that is passionately committed to empowering children, young people, and families to build resilience through the healing of adverse childhood experiences and trauma.

Kids Inspire (KI) provides a range of therapeutic and community services across Essex (the charity is also growing into Thurrock and Suffolk) for service users who are impacted by mental health challenges and trauma. We have a range of highly qualified therapists offering strong management support and peer support throughout our team. Launched in 2007, by the CEO and Clinical Director, Sue Bell, Kids Inspire has a track record of success, a highly engaged board of trustees, and a determination and drive to make a sustainable difference in the lives of children, young people and families.

Our work is holistic and trauma informed. We are particularly keen to hear from you if you are an accredited child and/or adult psychotherapist/counsellor, with a minimum of three years’ post qualification experience. We are particularly interested in hearing from individuals with a specialist qualification and interest in trauma (e.g. EMDR, DDP, Theraplay, Somatic Experiencing, Sensory Motor and Trauma Informed CBT).

Main Activities

The role includes but is not limited to:

  • To work individually/dyadically with children/adults using a variety of methodologies dependent upon qualifications and experience.

  • To work at Kids Inspire’s Headquarters, which are fully equipped for sensory attachment work.

  • To keep up to date clinical records, complete all required outcomes testing programmes and submit these to Kids Inspire clinical administration in the required timescales.

  • To actively assess any safeguarding risks and report these immediately to Kids Inspire Safeguarding managers, to complete all required Cause for Concern forms and submit these in a timely manner.

  • To keep up to date CPD records and to attend any training days provided by the organisation, unless otherwise agreed with the line manager.

  • To attend staff meetings as required unless otherwise agreed with the line manager (optional for contractors).

  • To report for casework management within the required timescales and be fully prepared to discuss the current work.

  • To report immediately any likely sickness absence in a timely manner.

  • Any other request commensurate to the post.

Requirements and Conditions

  • An accredited child and/or adult psychotherapist/counsellor with a specialist qualification and interest in trauma (e.g. EMDR, DDP, Theraplay, Somatic Experiencing, Sensory Motor and Trauma Informed CBT).

  • A minimum of three years’ post qualification experience.

  • Professional indemnity insurance.

  • A car, with a clean driving licence and business insurance.

  • You will be subject to an enhanced check of criminal records via the Disclosure and Barring Service.

General Details

Job Title: Psychotherapist / Counsellor (Child/Adult)

Location of the Job: Hybrid face-to-face and online working. Face-to-face locations include Kids Inspire’s Chelmsford Head Office, schools in Essex, Southend, Suffolk and Thurrock, with opportunities also in Suffolk, Hertfordshire and Norfolk.

Contractual Terms: Self-employed (minimum 5 hours/week – more available)

Contract duration: Minimum term 12 months

Fees: £30-£90 p/h dependant on qualifications/experience
