Guest Blog: Layah, an Intern at Kids Inspire

Hi, I’m Layah and I’m the Research Assistant and Data Analyst Intern at Kids Inspire, a role supported by the Jack Petchey Foundation. I started working for Kids Inspire at the end of April and in just 6 months I’ve learned so much! As I started the job whilst still at university, for the first 10 weeks I worked completely online so was really nice to finally get to meet people face-to-face when I was able to go into the office.

Following on from completing my psychology degree, I feel that working at Kids Inspire has really built upon my knowledge on mental health and I feel very lucky to be able to attend the Clinical team meetings each week – it’s definitely what I look forward to most.

I have worked on a number of different projects and attended lots of training over the last few months. A highlight for me was the work that I did in helping to put together the Impact Report. It was great to see that all my hard work paid off and that I really helped to make a difference in putting that huge piece of work together.

I’m looking forward to helping out with our Christmas Appeal which starts very soon and hope that I can help it to run smoothly!

Now that I am halfway through my Jack Petchey Foundation Internship, I can honestly say that I have learned much more than I expected, met so many lovely people and feel like I’ve been so well supported by everyone that I have worked with. I’m looking forward to seeing what the next 6 months brings!
