Funder spotlight: Global’s Make Some Noise

We initially heard about Global’s Make Some Noise by listening in to our local radio station – Heart Essex – back in 2015.

Heart is just ONE of the radio stations that fall under the media giant – Global – which set about raising the profile of, and get

ting the voice heard from, many small charities nationally by creating its very own charity – Global’s Make Some Noise (GMSN)!

Back in 2015, we were grateful to receive a generous grant from the charitable arm of Global towards one of our family projects. Having seen and appreciated the impact then, we made the decision to apply once again in 2017, and this time with a bigger project in mind.

Today

The funding from GMSN will go towards a Creative Psychotherapist to support more vulnerable children and young people affected by issues such as trauma and emerging mental health issues.

The Psychotherapist will use clinically proven techniques to introduce coping strategies and build resilience to help children and young people manage independently; resulting in improved engagement with education, family, friends and community.

Image, storytelling and metaphor are more effective than talking therapies to help children understand experiences and regulate feelings:

Using funds from GMSN for this post will he

lp us to address the pressing need to expand capacity in line with rapidly growing demand (we currently average 19 referrals per week). If we do not expand our resources, increasing numbers of children might be left unsupported. 

Parents and siblings will also be supported as required, reinforcing our holistic approach for positive outcomes.

Above and beyond

GMSN have not only pledged to donate towards our charitable service, but the team have gone above and beyond with the children and young people we work with. As well as offering professional support to ensure this opportunity is more than j

ust charitable funding, the local Heart team offered some of our young people a tour around the local Heart Essex studios. This was well received and inspired some of our young people to share their story…
