Runners go the extra mile for children in Essex

Funds raised during the Brentwood-half marathon and Fun Run will go towards supporting children and young people with emerging mental health difficulties across Essex.

Dozens of half-marathon and ‘fun runners’ taking part in the Sunday 17 March challenge will be representing Kids Inspire. Funds raised at the event won’t stop with sponsorship as dedicated volunteers will be serving refreshments on behalf of Kids Inspire and the charity will also receive funds via the Giggly Pig concession stall – all as part of the corporate partnership offering.

Paula Ashfield, Fundraising and Communications Manager, said: “We can’t thank Sports Stiks and Baker Labels – sponsors of this event enough. Making Kids Inspire one of the charity partners of the Brentwood-half, as part of our continued Corporate relationship, has meant that our runners have been offered places in both events and we are able to raise funds on the day too. We are also extremely grateful to Rotary Club of Brentwood à Becket for continuing to organise this event on behalf of local and international charities.

“We are proud to say that we have children from several local schools – Brentwood School and Ursuline Prep School – running in support of Kids Inspire. We are so proud and grateful to all our runners taking part, we couldn’t do the work we do without our incredible supporters and events like this.”

Kids Inspire works across the county and for a few years now has been working in a consortium of Brentwood primary schools, making this forthcoming race even more meaningful to the local area.

Funds raised on the day will be shared between a number of charity partners. Kids Inspire will put its share into the Reclaiming Lives project.

Sue Bell, CEO and Founder of Kids Inspire commented: “A gift of time, dedication and raised funds from runners taking part will make such a big difference to the children, and their families, that we work with. Our Reclaiming Lives project offers us the most flexibility to not just treat symptoms but also to address underlying causes.  In doing this we keep the child at the centre and help the significant adults in his/her life.  This helps achieve sustainable positive outcomes.

“To some children, and their families, that we work with Kids Inspire is a haven – a haven from trauma, low self-esteem, anxiety, emerging depression or emotional issues. For us to continue to be this haven of sanctuary we welcome gifts of support. Thank you to everyone that has contributed.”
