“One Great Day” of local youth talent raises vital funds for Kids Inspire
In the autumn last year High Chelmer in Chelmsford gave a platform for talented local kids to entertain busy shoppers at their One Great Day event- all in the name of charity!
Our youth group, the Voice, played a vital role in the day, creating an enthusiasm and buzz around the centre whilst manning the lucky dip stall and raffle (with prizes donated from shops in the centre) which helped to raise over £150 for Kids Inspire.
Passionate Kids Inspire volunteer and supporter, Sophie Griffiths, headlined the event, helping to spread the healing power of music across the centre.
Elizabeth Bayliss, Community Engagement Lead at Kids Inspire, said:
“There was a real focus on the kids on this special day, from the entertainment acts right down to the organising and volunteering. Every child involved was buzzing after they contributed - it’s really positive for their wellbeing.
We are so grateful to High Chelmer for inviting us to be a part of the day and we enjoyed engaging with residents and showcasing local young talent.”
Michal Noe, Trustee of One Great Day, said:
“One Great Day is not just about raising money, but it is about communities coming together and having fun for a good cause. We hope that your community had a great time whilst making a really worthwhile contribution to the children’s charities, and the general wellbeing of your community”
The inspiring group of young people from The Voice were presented with Volunteers of the Month for their dedication to supporting the event, with one member citing the event as a sign of her growth following support from Kids Inspire’s Talk Together programme:
“Sadly in the past year my mum has been unwell, she suffered a stroke and potential heart attack, but I haven't let this deter me.
The support from Kids Inspire has helped me to manage yet another anxious and stressful time in my life. Recently, I was even brave enough to volunteer in the city centre, and I really enjoyed it! This was a big deal for me.”
Thanks to the team at High Chelmer for making us feel so welcome.
