Kids set to host youth line up in local shopping centre
High Chelmer in Chelmsford will hand over the floor and mic to talented local kids brave enough to entertain busy shoppers - all in the name of charity!
Headlining the event for local youth mental health charity, Kids Inspire, is Sophie Griffiths - online musical sensation and local treasure. The line-up also includes collaborations with young dance troupes, musicians, DJs and a 12-year-old MC.
Alongside the creative elements, there will be a High Chelmer special raffle – with prizes donated from shops in the centre – a lucky dip and the chance for passers-by to showcase during an open mic session.
Elizabeth Bayliss, Community Engagement Lead at Kids Inspire, said: “There will be a real focus on the kids on this special day, from the entertainment acts right down to the organising and volunteering. We have run a ‘Kids Can do it’ talent day before and every child involved was buzzing after they contributed - it’s really positive for their wellbeing”.
“We are so grateful to High Chelmer for inviting us to be a part of the day and look forward to engaging with residents and showcasing local young talent. We hope many will come along!”
‘One Great Day’- on Saturday 9 October 2021- is the annual fundraising day hosted by High Chelmer shopping centre, who this year selected Kids Inspire and Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) to be beneficiaries.
Mick McDonagh, Centre Manager at High Chelmer said: “We’re so pleased to host another One Great Day event to raise funds for two fantastic charities. One Great Day was set up to fundraise for Great Ormond Street Hospital but also for a local charity in each participating area, we’re thrilled to be supporting Kids Inspire as our local charity here in Chelmsford.
Kids Inspire provide mental health and trauma recovery support to children and their families, which has never been more important following the challenging times we all have faced over the last 18 months. The funds raised at the event will contribute to the incredible daily work that Kids Inspire and Great Ormond Street Hospital continue to do to help children and young people.
There will be lots for customers to enjoy as well, with performances and entertainment throughout the day and an opportunity to win prizes gifted by our retailers. We hope you can come along!”
Chelmsford Community Radio will be supporting the day by offering the use of their specialist equipment and PA system.
One Great Day will take place on Saturday 9 October 10.30pm-3.30pm.
Funds raised will be split equally between Kids Inspire and GOSH.
