Kids Inspire reaches out to the families of Basildon

Basildon Market was a hub for community outreach on Saturday as children’s charity, Kids Inspire, spoke to local families and gave away goodies to passers by.

Committed volunteers of all ages came together for the benefit of local families to remind them that we are still planning more community outreach activities in support of positive mental health for all.

Head of Operations at Kids Inspire, Vicky Haylock tells us about the importance of these events:

“It is so important that we let families know that we are still here to support them as we begin to head into the ‘new normal’, which will be a difficult transition for many. We have continued to offer our services throughout the pandemic as many children and young people have struggled to cope.”

St Cedds School in Chelmsford donated over 250 chocolate gifts to the children’s charity which were handed out to families as they passed by.

Zoe, 21, represented Kids Inspire on the day and said:

“Seeing the faces of the children light up when they realised, they were getting an Easter Egg was really heart-warming but what made me more emotional was seeing the realisation on the parents faces that they weren’t expected to pay or to do anything in return. People rarely expect to get something for nothing.”

Kerry Anne Young, a dedicated Community Volunteer, played a significant role in the organisation of the event, here is what she had to say:

“I love nothing more than planning and running fun events for local children and seeing so many happy faces. It’s a great way for children from different cultural, social and financial backgrounds to come together and all feel included.”
