Hear from two of our Trustees’…

It’s National Trustee Week (2-7 November) and we are so grateful for all the support that we receive from our Board of Trustees. They each bring a variety of specialisms and volunteer their time to support Kids Inspire, encouraging growth and progression.

This week, we’d like to shine the spotlight on two members of the board. Here is what they have to say:

Meet Andy Sleet – Chair of Trustees

“My role as Chair of Trustees has this year started to focus around ongoing improvement to the Trustee Board and the support the board gives to the charity.  Since COVID, our Trustee support is even more vital as our charitable services are needed now more than ever as children and young people come to terms with a new way of life.

The reason that I continue to be involved with Kids Inspire is because I dislike hearing the troubles that kids are experiencing – I have a personal desire to make a difference in some small way and know that together we can do that.”

Meet Mark Birchell – Treasurer

“My role centres around the finances of the organisation and I devote 1-2 days per month to supporting the finance team. Together, we forecast, segment and report to make sure that monies go to support as many people as possible.

Even during challenges we have faced over the last 12-months – moving premises, redecorating with the help of volunteers and staff, and more recently COVID – the team has delivered more sessions and progressed positively.

It has been a fantastic journey volunteering as a trustee for Kids Inspire, I have learnt so much and really feel a part of the team. I recently had my 50th birthday on site (which I thought no-one knew about) and I was taken by surprise when I was given a rather large cake!

I continue to look forward to working with like-minded, passionate people and making a real difference together. “
