A Story of Courage & Bravery
In our latest news article, we are delighted to share with you a story of courage and bravery from one of our service users Ethan, who put in an incredible effort up as he scaled the 3 Peaks in memory of Leo the Lion
We have known 11-year-old Ethan at Kids Inspire for a little while and feel honoured to share his story of courage, bravery, and physical and emotional strength.
Local lad, Ethan, alongside his father, recently completed the 3-peaks challenge, carrying up and leaving painted stones at the top of each peak in tribute to ‘Leo the Lion’ – a little boy who sadly passed at just 3-years old after suffering with a heart condition from birth.
Ethan’s parents were Godparents to Leo and are very close with the family, this was all the inspiration he needed to scale three peaks in around 48hours, with just a few breaks in-between to recoup.
The first peak, Ben Nevis took 7-hours to scramble up. Ethan told us how he felt when he reached the summit:
“I felt a sense of relief, the journey up felt never-ending. I am proud of my achievement and climbing all three peaks!”
What is the 3 peaks challenge?
The National 3 Peaks Challenge is often completed to raise money for a chosen charity but is also done for fun, as well as the sense of accomplishment that comes from summiting the mountains. The total walking distance of the National 3 Peaks Challenge is 23 miles (37km) with an ascent of 10,052 feet (3064 metres).
Everyone at Team Kids Inspire would like to say well done Ethan, please continue to climb every mountain.
