Eight weeks and counting!

Lindsey and Rob Abbott will be taking on the forthcoming Essex to Amsterdam cycle ride and they shared with us their thoughts ahead of the mammoth 140-cycle! Read below to hear their thoughts…

We chose to take on the cycle challenge as Rob is a keen cyclist and Lindsey didn’t even own a bike when we registered! It’s a great way to spend some quality time together in the Essex countryside whilst raising money to support a charity close to our hearts and in our local area.

Our training has been going well. We are both fortunate to be fit and well, Lindsey runs Shimmy ‘n’ Groove fitness ltd & Rob attends regular spin classes at riverside ice & leisure centre. Sunday’s are our training day for cycling together. Sometimes a double spin class or a fabulous browse through the local area, now up to 50 miles (enjoying the many coffee stops!).

Lindsey has chosen kids inspire as the charity for Shimmy ‘n’ Groove fitness as she’s passionate about helping young people who need emotional support. She uses her pastoral background alongside fitness to support the lunch clubs and 1:1 sessions with young people and families. The need for the support is ever growing and we are both honoured to play a small part in supporting the fabulous team.

Thank you Lindsey and Rob, supporters like you both are invaluable to the charity and really help us to grow the Kids Inspire community – which you are both a huge part of! Enjoy your cycle to Amsterdam.
