The Grow Project

Since September 2013 Kids Inspire has been working in partnership with The GROW Project.  This is a wonderful opportunity for all concerned to provide educational and therapeutic support to students and their families.

The GROW Project ensures an inclusive range of education provision for primary aged children with Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD).

It is for those pupils who are finding it hard to learn or make progress in their current school due to

  • What they may be doing- their behaviour
  • What they may be thinking- their understanding
  • What they may be feeling- their emotional wellbeing
  • What is going on in their school or at home- their context

Each GROW centre is based in a mainstream primary school with the students spending 4 days of the week in the centre and 1 day in their original school to ensure they remain connected to that school.  On average the students spend 8 weeks at the centre but this can be flexible depending on the student.

The project provides the student with a curriculum planned for their individual needs whilst modeling good adult relationships which encourage the student to begin to trust and learn.

Kids Inspire’s input in to the project is to provide holistic therapeutic support within each unit.  The emphasis of the intervention is that there “is always a back” for the targeted children, their parents and the referring schools.

Kids Inspire is initially providing support in Clacton, Braintree and Chelmsford, plus one in Colchester from January 2014.

The Kids Inspire Clinical Team includes specialist trained Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists, Adult trained Psychotherapists, Counsellors, Play therapists, Music Therapists, Art Therapists, Systemic Family Therapists and Complementary Therapists all of whom may be called upon to provide support to children and families in the unit to ensure that the service offered is bespoke and fully meets the needs of the individuals.

This flexible approach will avoid a ‘one size fits all’ scenario.
