Brentwood Community radio station, Phoenix FM, recently invited our Corporate Fundraiser, Katharine Loveday and Volunteer Coordinator Louise McConnell into the studio.
Collectively, they spoke about how the charity has grown from the vision of Sue Bell twelve years ago to now having over fifty staff.
Louise talked about the important work of mentoring and how this can be very rewarding for both the young person and the mentor.
Katharine spoke about the group of 17 Brentwood Primary schools who work collectively with the charity. As well as how the charity is funded – no funding from central government – and relying on the sponsorship of businesses as well as fundraising events and activities.
Other items that were discussed live on air:
- ‘Not-for-profit charity of the year’ award from the Brentwood Chambers of Commerce
- London to Paris cycle ride
- Brentwood half marathon
